Location: MVPT Physical Therapy – Depew, NY
Mark H., PT, DPT, after graduating in 1986 with his Physical Therapy degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo, Mark practiced in acute care, orthopedics and neurological rehabilitation at Millard Fillmore Gates Hospital before moving into private practice. Prior to opening his own clinic, Mark was a partner and Senior Therapist with a large regional outpatient physical therapy group for 25 years. During that time, he also served as the Director of the Buffalo Industrial Work Hardening Center, one of the first industrial rehabilitation facilities in Western New York.
In 1995, Mark became one of the first Board Certified Specialists in Orthopedic Physical Therapy in Western New York. This certification requires extensive clinical experience and demonstration of advanced knowledge through successful completion of advanced clinical testing. In 2005, Mark continued his academic training by successfully fulfilling the requirement for his Doctorate in Physical Therapy.
Over the past 30 years, Mark has served as a Clinical Instructor for students from Daemen, D’Youville and SUNY Buffalo, and has served in a faculty position at SUNY Buffalo, teaching a variety of Physical Therapy courses including Orthopedic Evaluation and Treatment. Mark has served as a Test Writer for the National Orthopedic Specialty Certification Exam for several years, as served as a “Key Contact” representing Western New York, and the American Physical Therapy Association, with lobbying visits to Washington DC as an advocate for patient rights, benefits and access to Physical Therapy.
Over the past 25+ years, Mark’s special interest has been in the rehabilitation of golfers, helping them return to the course after injury or surgery. Most recently, he successfully completed the highest level of certification (“Medical 3”) for a healthcare provider working with golfers. This advanced certification required extensive training in advanced evaluation of golf biomechanics, causes of injury, golf-specific rehabilitation, and a mandatory training session at the Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) where all Titleist Touring Pro’s are evaluated and treated.
In addition to his expertise in golf-rehabilitation and orthopedic physical therapy, Mark has been providing Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE’s) for over 35 years for workers’ compensation, disability and litigation cases. He has advanced training by several certifying programs and has been recognized by many of the area’s top physicians and attorneys as a “preferred provider” for this service.
Mark has been recognized numerous times by Buffalo Business First as a “Top 50 Healthcare Provider” and his clinic as a “Top Physical Therapy Facility.”
