Location: MVPT Physical Therapy – Rome, NY
Shayla J., PT, DPT. graduated from Utica University in May of 2025. My Physical Therapy journey started in 2019 when I moved from Massachusetts to attend Utica University’s 3+3 Doctorate of Physical Therapy program. I knew since I was a young girl that I wanted to be a part of the health care field so when I faced my first sport injury and had to attend Physical Therapy, I quickly fell in love with the profession and all it could offer.
At my time at Utica University, I played Soccer, Water Polo, and Swimming. In terms of clinical interests, I have a difficult time narrowing it down to just a couple so I would have to say Outpatient Neuro, Vestibular, and Pediatrics in addition to Outpatient Orthopedics/Sports. What I love most about Physical Therapy is that the profession offers various areas to develop skills in addition to the flexibility and fluidity of specialties within the profession.
Some of my hobbies include reading, running, working out, traveling, and just about anything to do with organization. I am beyond excited to work with and help individuals overcome their struggles so that they leave the clinic confident, happy, and healthy.
