Sarah W., PTA

Location: MVPT Physical Therapy – Rome

Sarah is a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) and has experience with outpatient orthopedics, subacute rehab, and long term care. She has a certification in SASTM, a form of instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization, which is a technique that aims to break up scar tissue that limits range of motion and causes pain. Sarah works to incorporate this technique in combination with treatment to improve function. She uses her knowledge of the musculoskeletal system to problem solve to figure out what’s causing a patient’s pain, and she enjoys listening to patients’ stories and ongoing difficulties to work on their function with less pain.

Sarah recalls a time when she was younger when her grandfather had a knee replacement and the PTA that visited his home went above and beyond to explain what they were doing and why. Since then, Sarah has wanted learn about more the human body, which continues to interest and amaze her.

In the summer, Sarah enjoys relaxing by a waterfall, hiking with her daughter, or kayaking. In the colder seasons, she enjoys curling up with a book, a blanket, and her cat, Franklin.
