PMC Weekend 2021

The PMC Ride is Over but the Work Continues

Another PMC Weekend has come and gone, but our team’s efforts to raise money for Dana-Farber continues until October 1, 2021. Our team worked hard, and despite some literal bumps along the way, they sailed through the weekend. Fueled by electrolytes and positive vibes, the team once again showed an outstanding dedication to the mission of PMC of raising money to support the cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

Steve Windwer, DC, PT- CEO & Founder of Bay State Physical Therapy

“Without fail, year after year, I continue to be in awe of our riding team. Not only do they commit to months-long training to prepare for the PMC weekend, but they also set increasingly lofty fundraising goals. This year’s team weathered many challenges, including a very dangerous crash weeks before PMC weekend, which resulted in two of them requiring immediate surgery due to their injuries. However, on PMC weekend the entire team came together to support one another. I am incredibly proud of them and our entire organization for their dedication and support of Dana-Farber and of our role as the Official Physical Therapy Partner of the Pan Mass Challenge. If you haven’t contributed to their fundraising campaign yet, hopefully you will continue reading and get inspired to help them shatter their $60,000 fundraising goal.”

Recap from Our PMC Riding Team

Erin Doherty-Marketing Manager, Bay State Physical Therapy-Corporate Resource Center

“We rode the PMC Wellesley Century route on Sunday and being part of a ride with hundreds of riders was amazing. In true PMC spirit, we even had the pleasure to pick up an honorary team member, Bill. He was riding behind us for the first leg, and when we hit the next water stop, he asked if he could join us for the full ride because he enjoyed riding with our team. He is a cancer survivor and had been riding PMC for 7 years. It was incredible to hear his story! The century ride ends at Babson College, with the streets lined with PMC Pedal Partner photos and signs. It was really powerful and I got emotional. Ending the PMC weekend with this final push, really reminded us of “our WHY” of riding and raising money for cancer research.”

Jenn McBride, PT, DPT OCS-Physical Therapist at Bay State Physical Therapy -Foxboro

“It was really great to see some of my former patients and familiar faces from the community come out to support us on Saturday for our “reimagined” ride. Since I’ve worked at the Foxboro clinic for 7 years now, it was nice to see familiar faces at the Patriot Place, Norfolk and Wrentham water stops. After last year’s virtual event (due to COVID), I was really excited for a return to a more “normal” PMC event that veteran riders have raved about. Did it live up to the anticipation?  It totally did and more! The water stops were a lot of fun, and the camaraderie between the various PMC teams was awesome. I didn’t expect to see so many people cheering from their driveways along the route. There was someone holding a poster that read, “My husband is alive today because of you”, and seeing that while riding was so powerful & inspiring and it motivated us even more to push through the ride and toward eclipsing our fundraising target!”

Holly & Adam Petersen- Bay State Physical Therapy PMC Riding Team Members

“The support from the Bay State PT physical therapists during PMC weekend was amazing! On Saturday, I began to experience knee pain. The care I received, especially at the Abington Clinic, made it possible for me to finish the ride Saturday. On Sunday, the stretching I received at the Foxboro water stop allowed for me to ride with virtually no knee pain for the remainder of the day. Thank you to everyone who volunteered and supported the BSPT riding team and all PMC riders!”

Lexi Windwer, PT, DPT- Physical Therapist at Bay State Physical Therapy-Weymouth Club

“Having our staff at our water stops was a real treat, especially when we hit the stop where Dave Smith, DC was ready and waiting. It was so nice to have him there for a full adjustment and muscle work at the halfway point! The PMC experience is inspiring! It was such an amazing weekend riding with our team and seeing all the support throughout out ride on both days! PMC weekend has been a highlight a highlight of my last two years, and I’ve got next year’s ride already on my calendar.”

“My favorite part about PMC weekend was seeing my teammates at each rest stop during the reimagined century ride.  Unfortunately, due to a crash while training and a few injuries as a result, I was unable to ride this year, but I loved seeing them at each stop. I also got goosebumps seeing them climb the last and biggest hill of their ride.  They did so well, and I am so proud of them!”

Sara Ryan- Physician Liaison at MVPT Physical Therapy

“Due to a crash during a training ride, I was not able to ride with the team during the PMC weekend. While I was so disappointed to miss out, I was able to participate by helping the team at the water stops. The entire PMC experience was remarkable. Seeing so many people come together for a common cause of raising funds for Dana-Farber was truly something I will remember forever.”

Bonus Riders Joined on Saturday

Evan Healy & Benjamin Manning

Evan Healy, PT, DPT, CSCS, Physical Therapist at Bay State Physical Therapy-Quincy

“I was able to participate through multiple stages of Saturday’s ‘Reimagined Ride”. I had such a great time, and it was nice to meet and spend time with our riding team. The energy from everyone riding and at the water stops along the way was amazing. I look forward to riding as part of the BSPT PMC Riding Team in future events!”

Benjamin Manning- Patient Care Coordinator at Cypress Physical Therapy-Springfield

“I joined the team on Saturday, when family of clinics came together to support them and participate in the re-imagined ride. Different riders took turns leading the pack and it was a no-drop ride, meaning we’re only as fast as our slowest rider. I can’t wait to be part of this ride again next year!”
